LOL, in a way, Narym, you're right. It upsets me that the founder of PETA is a diabetic, and the medicine she uses was tested on animals...but you're not supposed to use any medicines tested on animals. It's one of their foundation rules...but she still takes her insulin. But that's not what makes me hate them so much. I'll dish, and I'll try to keep it civil...
My experience with Peta:
I'm in my home, early morning, around 8:30A fixing breakfast for myself and my son who's almost two. He's watching cartoons in the living room and playing with blocks on the coffee table, and I'm watching over the bar to make sure he's doing okay. I go back to fixing taquitos (eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and cheese wrapped in a warm flour tortilla), when the tv gets quiet...so I wait a second, and look back in, my son is still playing with blocks so I look at the tv to see why it got quiet, if he hit the remote or if the cable went out. They were showing dogs and cats locked in cages looking sad and very abused...flash to a rabbit being given an injection of something...flash to a lab rat in a cage....flash to a cow getting something done to it (I can't remember)...flash to a monkey getting electroshock therapy.
My jaw dropped. You should have seen the monkey. I'll never forget. It was twitching and grabbing the chair by where it's hands were restrained, and screaming. I looked at my son, almost in tears, afraid that he had seen this because sound had still not been restored, and lack of sound usually makes one look to see what has happened. He, thank god, had not. I was so pissed. I stood there for two seconds, watching the PETA logo come up and then sound came on and he looked up. I called the cable company, and began berating the first person I spoke to, then asked for a manager and did the same. I told them that if I EVER saw that commercial on my tv again, on ANY channel, I'd sue them, I'd sue the state for allowing it and I'd sue PETA. I was told I couldn't sue PETA, by the cable company. I told them that I could sue PETA, if I believed that they were endangering my childs health and welfare and mental stability, and that I damned sure WOULD sue PETA if I ever saw that again on my TV. I've never seen that commercial on my tv again. If I did, you can guarantee I'd find a lawyer.
This happened early in the morning, after school age kids are in school, on (take a guess??) Cartoon Network. A kids channel. Not Discovery, or the History channel. On a kids channel...because they aim their views at kids. If you can change a kid...you can change the world. And after a little research, I found they do this alot. Aim their views at kids.
And that is why I will never ever ever forgive PETA.
