Arwen looked over at Sharir. "Good, i'm starved, and Nightingale, dont feel bad about getting the job, i'm hoping to open a shop soon" she added to Nightingale

"Actually, what I would primerily need you for is working the checkout and keeping an eye on the store when I am in the back working on a piece. Everything in the store is protected but all the same, I'd feel better if there was someone to keep an eye on things." Cassiel smiled, "Don't worry about your hands, I'm sure I can find enough to do to keep you busy."

Nightingale stammered sincere thanks, hardly able to believe the good luck and sending a silent prayer of thanks to whatever gods might be listening.
"If you could write down directions from here and let me know when you would like me to start, that would be very helpful," he added. "I don't know where anything is in town yet."

"It is actually just around the corner. When you leave here, take a right, and then at the corner take another right. My shop is the fourth one down. Just come by whenever you get the chance." Cassiel grinned, "This is going to work well I think."

Nightingale gave her a smile holding both thanks and a tinge of irony. "My time is yours. I know nothing about jewelry, but I'm a quick study."
He sat back on his chair as something occurred to him. Magic apparently was common here. He was primarily a Fire mage, but he did also have some control of Air. The antagonistic elements, Water and Earth, he could not affect in any way - except to bring in rainstorms and turn the ground to mud. Could he use whatever control he had here over the air to help him lift things beyond his hands' abilities? He didn't know but resolved to test the possibility at the first opportunity.

"Hello?" Shouted a voice from the front entrance, "Pizza delivery! Someone here order an all-dressed?"
Sharir sat bolt upright and then got off the desk, fumbling for his wallet. He headed to the front desk.
"I'll be right back," he called over his shoulder.

Arwen's head snapped towards the noise of the pizza man. Her stumach growled and her eyes shifted to her wolf eyes. "Come on Sharir" she said as her eyes shifted back to normal

"That'll be eight fifty," the delivery man said.
Sharir hauled his skinny wallet from his jeans pocket, fingered out a ten and let the man take the change as his tip. The pizza smelled wonderful and he bore it back to the reading area proudly.
He parked the box down on the desk, "Dig in," he said, "They generally come cut. Badly, I'll admit, but all we've got are fingers and teeth."
He waited for the others to take pieces, his stomach rumbling the whole time. When his turn came, he practically pounced on a slice. One bite told him it was a very good pizza.

Arwen snatched her piece once it was her turn and took a bite. She savored the taste of it in her mouth as she chewed on it and swollowed it. "Quite good" she said, before taking another bite. With her free hand, she fished into her pocket and pulled out 3 bucks. She tossed it on the table next to Sharir. "Thanks" she said smiling

As much as Sharir needed the money, he didn't want to take it. The shifter puched the n=money back across the desk to Arwen.
"My treat this time," he said, "You can get it next time."
Under the shelving, a bit of the darkness wriggled and a dustball rolled into the aisle.

Arwen sighed and took back the money, and turned to look at the dust ball that fell out from under the shelving and into the aisle. "What the he*l" she said, standing up

Nightingale took a small piece, thanking the other man. While he wasn't really hungry, experience had taught him never to turn down the chance to eat when the next time might be a while in coming. "I'll return the favor as soon as I can," he said.
When Arwen turned, Nightingale did, too, to see what she was looking at. Dustballs were nothing new to him but there was something else... a darkness under the shelving. He crouched to see better but the shape eluded him, slipping away from his vision like a fish darting under the weeds. He couldn't see anything directly; only when he turned his head and used his periphreal vision could he get a suggestion of a body, limbs.
He'd discovered creation magic back in his old life by inadvertantly creating creatures he'd intended to be mere illusion. They had ended up being much more. But this wasn't Rift; surely it was just a rat or something.
If it turned out to be "something" instead of a rat, he was hooped. He started his nervous, subliminal humming again and returned to the table, carefully not looking at whatever it was.

Arwen looked at the darkness and then at Cassiel. "Whatever it is, i dont like that its here and can see us but we cant see it." she said to her. Arwen stood up and walked over to the shelving and kneeled down, shifting her eyes into the wolf form. She looked under there, then jumped back, eyes shifting again. "Uhh, i think we should get it out of here" she said again

The shadow pricked up tiny ears in its hiding place. The music soothed it, made it forget what it had been. Sensing that it was alone and that the others were at a distance, it decided to follow the music that entranced and beguiled it.
It edged towards the light so very carefully, so very silently, with hope in its being. Inside its dark body something grew and began to push out the blackness. Screwing up its confidence, it reached a tiny paw out into the hated light.
"What the hell is that?" Sharir asked, startled at the sight. He nearly dropped his slice of pizza onto his lap.

"shhh Sharir, Nightingale, keep singing." Arwen said, as she quickly shifted. She sneakily walked over to the shelf and swipped a paw at it, while changing it back to human form, and grabbed the little furry thing. She pulled it close and totally shifted to her human form, holding it close to her body to keep the light away. She huddled over and held it in the darkness of her shadow. She took a peek and quickly covered it back up smiling
