Malachi strode slowly along the shores of Ravenheart Lake. He had hardly met anyone in this town, and worked so hard on making good impressions, so that he wasn't hated everywhere he went, that he didn't try to meet very many people, and seemed to be pretty shy.
The sun was at it's last visible point, setting in the sky, and the moon was already up, it was semi-dark. This was Malachi's favorite hour of the day, the hour of twilight. It was dark, yet light at the same time, it just gave him a feeling of security, and he always had to be out at this time of night, so that he felt good.
Finally, after circling the lake once or twice, he sat down, on the edge of the ground. He stripped his shoes and socks off, and dangled his legs into the chilly water. It sent a small chill through his spine, but he quickly got over it, and watched the moon and the sun, playing games with each other.

On the other side of the lake, a large, green dragon walked toward the lake. Its eyes glanced over at Malachi, but it kept walking toward the water. Once reaching the water, it lowered its head and began to lap up some water, its wings folded against its body

Malachi kept looking between the Sun and the Moon, oblivious to everything else that was going on around him. Finally he looked back down to the water, and his eyes got wide when in the lake, was the reflection of a large dragon.
He sat stunned, never before having seen a dragon, the only times he ever even heard of them was when they were causing havoc, and so he thought that's all they did.
He didn't move at all, but let his eyes wander off the reflection on the lake, to the real dragon, seeming even more terrifying than the reflection.

The dragon had lifted her head from the water, and was standing stock still, watching the man, waiting for his reaction. Once he finally saw her, she flexed her wings slightly, making her look much larger, seeing as her wing span was 40ft, and she left them resting at about halfway out. The eyes stared straight back into his, as if daring him to move.

Malachi saw the dare in the dragon's eyes, but didn't take it. He sat still in his same position still, not taking any sort of movement, whatsoever. Though the sun was completely out of sight now, so it was getting pretty dark, and harder to see, so he knew it could be an advantage for the dragon, though he didn't know, because he wasn't sure if they had night vision or not.
It became darker, but still no movement was made be either the dragon nor Malachi.

The dragon was getting quite anxious during this stare-down, but with a long life of being a 'dragon' she was used to waiting, and watching. As it grew darker, her vision grew better, and she could see all the features of the man sitting on the other side of the lake. He knew that in one sweep of her wings, she could be on him in seconds, but what he didn't know was, she was a fire breathing dragon. He also didn't know that she wouldn't hurt him unless it was truely needed, but that was her little secret

Malachi was getting really tired of this, and he couldn't even see the dragon hardly. Finally he gave up, but thought of a tricky way to try and get around it. Slowly, he faded into nothingness, so he was invisible.
He stayed in the same spot, bringing his feet out of the water, waiting to see the dragon's reaction.

Once she saw that he was beginning to fade away, she began to smell him. She had picked up his scent half an hour ago, and she just kept smelling him. She was wondering if she could reach his mind, he seemed different then other people. ::Can you hear me?:: she sent to his mind, lengthing her wings

Malachi stood up, and was ready to get away from the dragon when something rang through his mind, a voice he had never heard before, and it rang loudly. He knew he didn't have much control over himself, and his mind, but he couldn't get the voice out of his head. It kept ringing over and over, and he wasn't sure why.
He had never gotten anything in his mind before, his mind had been the only thing that had really been his spot for himself, and now that wasn't even able to happen.
He rushed his hands up and put them over his ears, as he kneeled down slowly, with the beginning of a migrane coming to him. Slowly, he turned visible, letting out a small moan.

When he went to his knee's, she gave one flap of her wings, and she was up about 20ft, and soaring toward him. She circled, and landed about 10 feet away from him, folding her wings so not to hit him.
She faced toward him, and tilted her head to the side slightly. She wrapped her tail around her hind leg, but didn't make any mean motions. ::Are you okay?:: she sent again

Tate was finally being able to get the voices out of his head, and regain his composure, when another voice came ringing through, though this one, softer and sweeter than the first. He held his hands over his ears still, not even looking to the dragon.
He let a small white mist of energy flow from his hands, into his head. That made him feel much better, so he removed his hands from his ears. He was able to stand, and control himself again.
His eyes were a little bloodshot from the ringing in his head, but the redness was slowly fading away. He stared at the dragon, still unsure of what to think. The dragon seemed okay though, because it was asking how he was. How could the dragon talk in my head, there must be more to this dragon then normal. He thought to himself.

Glad that he was okay, the dragon sat back. Well, sort of. When sitting down, she sat like a dog, but she had to tuck her wings against her body, and curl her tail around her haunches.
Her eyes watched him carefully, in case he went into a seizure. She raised one paw in appeasement, to let him know she wasn't going to hurt him. ::All you alright?:: she sent again

Tate kept the best control that he could this time, and nodded slowly. Not sure what to do. He could tell that this was not a normal dragon.
"What and who are you?"

Glad that he was finally speaking to her, she snaked her head slightly, giving it a snake like look. ::My name is Jasmine, and i am a shifter:: she sent to him, stopping the snake movements of her head

He figured out that when messages were coming, he could tell, and if he sent a white mist from his hands to his head as they came, he could have control of himself, and be able to still hear the message.
"If you are a shifter, then why are you not shifting back, and why are you scaring me like that?"
Malachi looked at her questiongly. Not sure about anything.
