Danger

[Kaden]

Kaden looked at her for a while. Her soft tone and unwillingness to look at him seemed to contradict what she was saying, but it had been an...eventful night, to say the least. She'd understandably not be herself for a while and there wasn't much he could do about it. So he did the only thing he could do. Stepping forward with no words at first, he hugged her tightly. Kaden didn't think words would have helped.

But the fact still remained that they were in the middle of the street, bloody. He held her for a few scant moments to let her know everything would be fine, before whispering, "We still have to get you cleaned up."

[cassandra]

Stepping out of his embrace, she backed away from him. Still refusing to meet his eyes, she asked in the same small voice, "where do you want me to go to do that?"

[Kaden]

"We don't have to run anymore, so...it's your choice. You seem a bit shaken up, so you might wanna just go home." Kaden said to her, seriously hoping she'd be okay.

[cassandra]

The words..."you might just want to go home"..each one hit her like a stone.

"Yes, you're right. That's what I'll do. Goodbye Kaden." and she turned to walk away.

[Kaden]

"Wait." He called as she turned abruptly. "I wouldn't let you walk back like this by yourself." Kaden said, moving quickly to catch up with her.

[cassandra]

She didn't have it in her to argue with him. Where she told him goodbye didn't really matter, it would hurt just as badly regardless of where it was said. Maybe it was fitting for it to end where it had begun. Whatever 'it' had been. Zane. Tristan. And the hardest of all. Kaden. It always came down to Goodbye.

"Sure, walk me home. That's how it all started, isn't it?" The ghost of her little cat grin briefly appeared, then that shattered look returned to her face, and she turned around and headed in the direction of her room.

[Kaden]

He sighed but fell into step next to her anyway. The hurt in her voice oozed through, whether it was intended to or not. An awkward silence hung in the air after she spoke for a few seconds. "...If you feel like I've led you on..." Kaden started to say softly, but didn't even know how to finish it. She was most likely tired of hearing him say he was sorry, but sometimes even he didn't know how his mind worked. "I never meant for you to feel that way."

[cassandra]

There was no reply from her at first. Then as they reached her room she turned and said, "Oh, I almost forgot. The reason I was outside the club to begin with. I was coming to tell you that I've been called out of town to handle some personal business. I'm not sure how long it will take, so I can't ask you to hold my job for me, though I do appreciate the offer ot it. I'm sorry I couldn't give you more notice, but I didn't have any myself."

[Kaden]

Again, he didn't know what to say. He was almost positive she was just trying to turn him away, but there was always the slim chance that it was just his ego talking. Maybe there truly WAS some personal business she needed to handle. Yeah, right. He thought to himself. "...Alright. I...The job will be waiting for whenever you get back." Kaden said to her finally. "Bye." His voice never got any higher than its soft tone.

[cassandra]

She kissed her fingertips, then reached up and softly touched Kaden's lips with them. She traced the outline of his beautiful mouth for a moment, then lowered her hand. Without another word she turned and walked into her room, softly shutting the door behind her with a soft, but final, click.

[Kaden]

When she touched his lips, he felt it again. The same thing he'd felt the last time he was here; earlier today. The click of the door snapped him out of his trance-like state, bringing him back to reality. All this happened mere seconds apart from each other, and he quickly knocked on the door again before she could get too far away from it.

[cassandra]

Hearing the soft knock on the door, she started to ignore it, knowing it would be the right thing for her to do. She was unable to do it though, right or wrong didn't exit where Kaden was concerned. She would never be capable of not opening a door he knocked on. Trying to wipe the broken look from her eyes she turned back and opened the door.

"Yes? she asked him, in the same soft tone that was so alien to her.

[Kaden]

He stood there for a second; a second that felt like an eternity to him, just looking at her. Trying to figure out who he was going to be in that moment. It only took that second for that decision to be made for him.

Not wasting any more time, Kaden stepped forward out of the hallway and into the open door, and kissed Cassandra passionately once again, pulling her body to his. Pushing the door closed behind him with his foot, he heard that click again, this time with a different meaning.

[cassandra]

Cassandra's body went stiff with shock for a moment, then she felt herself melting against him as her mouth opened to receive his kiss. Pressing her body against his she tangled her fingers in his hair, pulling him even closer to her, she began to tease his tongue with her own, savoring the taste of him. Before she lost herself totally she pulled back, slowly ending the kiss.

"Kaden, I'm not going to stop you this time, so if this isn't what you want, you're going to have to stop yourself. But know this...I love you...and I'm playing for keeps." Her breath stoped as she waited to see what he would do.

[Kaden]

Kaden didn't say anything. He just let her go for a moment, turned back around toward the door and locked it. Turning back toward her, he still didn't say anything, instead stepping toward her again and pressing his lips against hers and wrapping his arms around her waist. His tongue ran along her lips, teasing them as it tried to find hers.
