"Hmm." Narym looked at Eli, at the robot and back at Eli. " And which one do you think it's likely to go for? Or will it be potluck?"

"Probably whoever it sees as its biggest threat. Or whoever is out in front."

Narym looked back in the direction Dyra stood and back at Eli. " Ok, I'll be the decoy. You get the damn thing."

We know what's happening. We are trying to fix it. Hold on Dyra. Narym and Cassiel
So people knew she was here, they were working on the problem...but they'd been working for day's...that's the way it felt. She'd long ago run out of things to talk to herself about, and was currently in the process of learning gibberish...assigning each babbling word a specific meaning, one that seemed much more apt to her current condition than any normal word would. How much time had truly gone by? All at once panic started to set back in...what if they'd already left? Given up this place as a lost cause? Her heart rate stayed distressingly the same, but the little lightswitch in her head that controlled her gift clicked to the "on" position.
Feeling her gift so slowly, she could actually trace the path it took to become fully activated, and felt a new understanding of herself beginning to unfurl. Following the stream of energy that was emerging from somewhere inside her, she felt a crossroads coming up, with paths on it she'd never taken...never really noticed. And subtly kicked the energy down a path she was sure she'd never used before. Slowly, far too slowly for anyone to realize, her gift began lighting up...instead of darkened shadows licking down her arms, pure white light filtered around her, when strong enough...they'd give the appearance of pure white feathers enclosing her form....and it felt different, too...she focused on the subtle differences that her gift was undergoing, curious as to where they would lead, but without any consternation...

She felt a change in....something. She looked around, but all was as it was before. Then what? " Hold on Eli," she said quietly, " there's something odd happening." She began to walk away. "Don't start with out me!" she called back.

Cassiel focused and felt a strange energy. She looked at the robot, but it didn't seem to be coming from it. Narym and Eli were moving at the same speed as she was, and everyone else seemed frozen still so it couldn't have done anything. She didn't think.
"I'm going with you Narym," she called out. Turning to Eli she said, "Maybe you should come with us, this thing could be trying to separate us."

Narym stopped and waited impatiently for Cass to catch up. She could feel pressure begining to build, but wasn't sure if it was inside her or in the room itself. She craned her neck to check on where Dyra was standing. What the hell? Her friend was begining to glow. That was the only description that would fit. Instead of the dark shadows flowing down her arms that she had seen before, she could see a shining aura. " Cass!" she called urgently. " Something's happening, come quickly!" She turned and ran to see what it was.

"Heck, who knows what it's capable of," Eli said. It wasn't normal to have to worry about something affecting your existence, your way of life, in such a cold, cruel way. Eli looked around, waiting for their group attack.

Cassiel ran toward Narym and Dyra, hoping Eli would follow them. If something weird was going on, Eli would probably be able to figure it out, or know someone who could. She stopped dead in her tracks when she saw her friend glowing. "Now that's something I've never seen before," Cassiel whispered.
She turned to Narym. "Do you think this is something that is hurting her or not. Is this something you can heal?"

Narym stood watching Dyra with a mixture of wonder and dismay. " Oh Cass, I have no idea! I knew enough not to touch her when the dark shadows appeared, but I've never seen this before. But look at her face." Cass peered closer as she had done. " Do you see how peaceful she looks? Maybe it might be a good thing? Maybe she doesn't need healing." Narym put out her hand tentatively. " It doesn't feel evil. I can't sense any wrongness either. Maybe it's her unique way of dealing with what's happening." She reached out further but stopped short of touching her. " If I touch her, I may become " frozen" like everyone else and then I'll be no use to you and Eli. Your call. What shall I do?"

Albeit unable to move, she'd never felt better, her gift was definitely doing something, but she wasn't really sure what it was. She'd been able to feel the different channels it was trying to take, and had directed it to ones that she'd only begun to find, so she didn't have an inkling of an idea as to what was actually happening...but it felt soothing in a way she'd never experienced before, so she continued to let it run it's course.
As the glow around her strengthened, she tightened her 'grip' on her magic, so less energy was used to accomplish whatever change was taking place within her. She could feel a tension that told her she was close to her goal, but it was far more sudden than she believed it would be. The glow around her conformed into a crytalesque cocoon that shimmered slightly before shattering.
She turned slowly, as though still mostly frozen, and smiled brilliantly at the first two people she saw, Cassiel and Narym. Her voice soft and filled with some awe and some peace, she spoke, "Well, now. That was interesting...and I am so glad I'm able to move again...how long have I been like that?" It seemed like she was taking things in great stride, but actually, she was still feeling the comfort of controlling her gift so strictly. She wasn't sure how it had happened, but she was wasn't frozen....and for that, at least, she was grateful.

Narym could only stare. Dyra glowed. Her skin, her eyes, her hair, all shone with a radiance that was almost unnerving. Then it began to fade and Dyra was Dyra again. " Umm, hmm. Er, hi Dyra!"

Though the glow had faded, the radiance in her smile had lasting effect. "Hi, Narym, Cass....any idea what that was?" She looked back to where she had been standing, meaning both the glowing change that had overtaken her, as well as the freezing that she had been through before. She paused before speaking again, "I got your message...I think that's what kept me sane for the last bit...maybe even provoked my change. Knowing that someone was here, and trying to help, though I couldn't move....it gave me strength, and courage I didn't now I had." She laughed quietly, realizing she sounded far too serious, and picked up a bag of chips.

Eli looked at the scene, still not moving much, but now there seemed to be a plan, especially since Dyra was now free from the clutches of the thing. "Does anybody object to seeing if Skyler can toast the thing, and maybe spare us having to destroy it ourselves?"

Cassiel stared in shock as Dyra began moving again. Was this something just she could do, or could everyone somehow break out of it? She grinned at Dyra, "Good to have you back," she said. "Maybe you could tell us exactly what happened."
She turned to Eli. "It doesn't hurt to call him over here, strength in numbers, but I think we should let Dyra tell us what she knows first."
