Sharir gave her a level stare, his tail flicking lightly from side to side.
::Fine:: he sent ::If you plan on being sick, please do it where I can't see you. I generally feel a little under the weather for a few moments after I shift back::
The tiger lay down on the straw, flat on his side. His orange and black striped body began to tremble and a low moan issued from his throat. Jaws gaping for breath, Sharir's skin began to split and red fluid seeped from the rents, soaking into the hay.
It looked as if the tiger was turning inside-out. This was no 'poof-you're-human' shift; this was another form issuing from the previous one, almost like a birth. The tiger's body convulsed several times. Then blood and fluid sprayed into the air and, with a folding motion, the tiger was now a man.
Sharir lay on his side in a fetal position, totally coated with blood and discharge. A scarlet pool surrounded him and he gave a low groan. As naked as the day he was born, he looked as if the earth mother had just given life to him. It didn't look as if he was breathing.
Even as she watched, the mess on his body began to dry and flake off. His hair remained soiled and sticky with his own blood. As Sharir took a gasping breath, his eyes closed and his knees drew in close to his belly. He struggled to breathe for a couple of seconds and then started to push himself up from the barn floor with his arms. His hair straggled across his face.
