The Goodbye Note

[Kiya]

Once more Kiya found herself kicking the haystacks with as much anger as she could muster. With a huge pout on her face she flopped onto one of the many bundles and crossed her arms. She refused to cry.
Unable to tell him about why she had been so different lately, Zane had taken off leaving only a note for her upon a pillow the following morning. That he could just take off like that....

She let out a cry of frustration and lay back completely on the hay, knowing it was a lot more than hormones throwing her emotions around.

[adelle]

Adelle sighed happily. She'd secluded herself in her room for quite a long time, only coming out to pay her rent. She'd been following the insticnt inside of her that told her to hide when there was danger, and for a long time it'd felt right. But, she was tired of hiding. She missed her friends and she missed the great outdoors.

So, despite her internal sense of impending doom, she'd decided to go for a little walk. Lost in thought, she was suprised when she showed up at the old barn. Why'd I come here? she thought to herself with suprise. She started to turn around when she heard a howl of frustration from inside. Concerned, she headed into the barn, stopping at the entrance when she'd spotted Kiya laying on the haystacks, not looking happy.

She stopped herself from immidiately heading toward Kiya and asking what was the matter. Would she remember who Adelle was? Perhaps a more subtle approach was needed. Quickly she snuck away from the entrance to the side of the barn. She removed her clothes to reveal a skin tight leotard. She welcomed the change into her other self which she had kept at bay for so long in fear that the longing to breathe fresh air would be too much.

The tiny cat made its way into the barn, it's black padded feet emitting no sound whatsoever. With ease she hopped onto the haystack Kiya was laying on and mewed softly. Her bright yellow eyes welcoming. Pet me, pet me. Aren't I cute? It'll make you feel better, I know it will.

[Kiya]

She recognised the small cat with a smile, stroking her softly, "Heya adelle. Long time no see my feline friend"

[adelle]

Adelle's eyes lit up at the sight of Kiya's smile. She was helping! Adelle purred gently in pleasure from the petting, but also from the pleasure of making her friend feel better if not for a few minuets. ::Likewise:: she sent to Kiya, smiling in her own feline way. She hopped up onto Kiya's stomach and curled up, her tail tapping happily. ::How have things been going? Hopefully no one's tried to harm you while I wasn't there to protect you.::

[Kiya]

"Oh theres been plenty of hurting" she sighed, "But nothing that cant be handled. Where have you been?"

[adelle]

Adelle opened her eyes, which had been closed with pleasure, and peered at Kiya. This would take more than just a good petting session. This would take girl on girl talking session. Reluctantly, she climbed down from Kiya's stomach and onto the floor. She then changed back to her human form and sat on the side of the hay stack.

With the rubberband on her wrist, she pulled her long hair back into a pony tail before turning back to kiya. "I was in my room. Now, this hurting you've mentioned, does it perhaps have to do with what you were howling about earlier?" Her bright blue eyes showed genuine concern.

[Kiya]

"The father of my unborn babe has left me", the words were out before she had a chance to think, "...And I didnt even get to tell him. I should have been able to tell him, right? But now hes gone. He`ll never know and.. Im rambling" she gritted her teeth.

[adelle]

Understanding showed itself on Adelle's face and partially hidden pity. What exactly could she say to that? There was nothing she could think of at the moment. Yet, she couldn't just say 'oh. That sucks. See ya!' and leave either.

She would have to improvise until she found something wise and meaningful to offer. "That's definately a problem if I ever heard one, but... are you sure it's as big a problem as it appears? What good could have come of telling him and causing him to feel the same pain you do? Would you wish that upon anyone?"

[Kiya]

"I know", Kiya gave a small smile, "..hence Im gonna drop that subject very quickly. You said you`ve been in your room? Where abouts is that? In the barn?"

[adelle]

"Wah?! The Barn? What do I look like- some kind of animal?" she asked incredulously. Then she remembered that she did look like an animal sometimes and grinned at her own mistake. "Of course not, you silly goose. I live at the Stay Inn. My room's by Sharir's. Do you sleep in the barn?" Adelle asked sharply, pretending to be deeply offended.

[Kiya]

Laughing lightly she shrugged, "You never know. No, I ve got a nice house by the sea" she smiled in memory, "I havent really spent much time their lately, Rez and Tam have basically taken over the housesitting duties whilst Im sorting things out"

[adelle]

Adelle's eyes filled with concern at the news that Kiya wasn't living in her house currently. "Well if you don't live in your house, then where do you live?" she asked soflty. Surely this sorrow that she felt wasn't prohibiting her from returning home and getting a good night's rest. But more importantly, her cash was running low.

Adelle needed a job badly... wasn't Kiya a Witch? Didn't all witches need cats to keep up their reputation and make up for lonliness? Adelle was as much a cat than a human, and if she lived with Kiya she could- Focus. Her attention span could use some work.

[Kiya]

"Live?", Kiyas laugh only hinted at bitterness, "Pretty much nowhere. Everywhere. Ive never visited the sanitarium more in my life"

[adelle]

Not seeming to retain the fact that Kiya'd left her home intentionally, Adelle seemed to only focus on the fact that Kiya was homeless. "Well in that case, I'm going to have to take you home and feed you, cute little stray." she announced warmly, hopping to her feet.

[Kiya]

Kiya smiled lightly, "Thanks, Delle, but eating is the last thing on my mind right now. I think what I really need to do is just forget all this....." she stopped, hand flying to her mouth. "Ive got it" she whispered more to herself.
