Part One: The Unicorn ..A Real Or Imaginary Creature??
Well a bit of both,true whilst there are no single horned horses running about,what is true if you know where to look you can find them..Contradiction in terms ..not really,for as you well know the Norsemen way up in the frozen wastelands like nothing better than a good fight,but they are also for the most skilled hunters too,and among their prey are walrus and narwhal,apart from the meat,and tallow from both these fine animals,the tusks of walrus and the magnificent curved horn of the male,actually an elongated tooth are prized catch items,particularly the narwhal ''horn''.
For you see the end section of the horns are ,cut and trimmed and incorporated into the brow band of the Norse horses,hence making them look to opponents from a distance like they are riding unicorns,and quite effective it can be in battle too.
