Kailen walked slowly through the Red Moon Mountains. He had a pair of dark blue jeans on and a black hooded sweatshirt, with the hood pulled over his head, and his hands in the front pocket of the sweatshirt.
As he walked higher up the mountain he began to quicken his pace. He was about three-quarters of the way up the mountain when he found a little cave thing. It wasn't a full cave, it just dipped into the mountain about 10 yards He walked into there and sat down, in the dark, on the damp ground.
He sat there criss-cross for a little bit, with his hood still over his face, and his hands still in his pockets. Inside the cave the wind picked up a little bit and it went in a big circle around him.

The same wind teased Arjani's long hair into a terrible knot. She had piled most of it into an elegant bun on the back of her head, leaving only a two foot long tail to trail down her back. Now she wished that she had braided the whole lot and pinned it up.
Her hair whipped into her face and she grabbed it with annoyance and stuffed it down her coat. Overhead, the clouds were heavy with rain and they fairly raced along, pushed by the breezes. When a gust of wind blew a few drops of rain into her face, Arjani decided that she should find shelter and soon, or she was infor a soaking. Just ahead of her, through the scrubby pines and a few feet off the path, was a cave.
Quickly, she stepped along the dirt trail and into the cave's mouth.

When this person walked into the cave, the wind circling around Kailen immediately stopped spinning, and it wasn't windy in the cave at all. Kailen didn't seem to look up to the new person at all. But was able to see enough, to tell that a girl was standing there.
He didn't think she meant harm, just to get out of the brewing storm. So he didn't question her presence...yet.

With a startled 'oh,' Arjani tightened the grip she had on her long tail of hair and stopped in her tracks just inside the cave's mouth. There, back from the opening, sat a man who appeared to be meditating.
As the wind died down, she frowned in puzzlement and tip-toed closer.
"Hello?" She waved to catch his attention, "I'm sorry, but do you mind if I wait out the storm in here? I'll be off as soon as the weather clears."

Kailen shook his head and took one hand out of his pockets and pointed to the ground.
"Not at all. Have a seat."
His voice was really quiet and raspy. But he spoke, nontheless. Once his hand came back to his body he didn't put it back in his pocket, but brought the other one out as well. He held them close together, creating a small ball of wind inside them, blowing a small breeze onto his face.

Uneasily, Arjani watched the phenomenon. She edged towards the farthest wall of the cave, there to sink to her haunches with her hands in her lap and her back against the stone. Long hair caught on the uneven face of the wall.
Spits of rain darkened the rocky floor not far from where she crouched, but her anxiety wouldn't allow her to approach the maker of the magic. The arts had always caused her grief and no small amount of pain in the past and as far as she was concerned were better off avoided.
Seeking to jump start a conversation, Arjani smiled, "I was out for a walk when this mess began. What brings you to this cave?"

Kailen shrugged, when she spoke, the wind disappeared from his hands.
"I just came up here to practice, figured this was as good of spot as any."
He shrugged again, seeing the rain almost getting to her, he held both hands out, moving them up and down towards the entrance, it didn't seem like anything came, but the rain stopped coming into the cave, like there was an invisible wall there.

Arjani fought back her fright and horror of the man using magical power. If she had learned anything here, it was that magic wasn't always used for nefarious purposes.
"So you come up quite a bit?" She asked, hiding the quaver that came into her voice.
Outside the cave's mouth, the storm raged and rumbled, but not a spot of rain ventured past the man's barrier.

Kailen shrugged.
"I guess. It is a nice enviroment up here to practice in, especially on night's like this."
He looked over to her, actually looking at her for the first time. He tried to find out what race she was, but was unsucessful.
"So... what... are you?"
He sounded nervous asking this question.

She blinked at the strange and rather blunt question. "What do you mean? What am I supposed to be?"
Arjani thought to herself, 'What kind of question is that?' but she held her tongue.
A clap of thunder sounded outside and its echo rolled about the cave, drowning out the heavy patter of rain and all other noise.

Kailen sighed, embarassed with himself.
"I mean like... race. Like I am a Wind Wizard. What are you?"
He didn't know any other way of wording the question. So he hoped she understood this time.

Confusion raced over Arjani's features. She took a moment to think over what he had said. A wizard could be a race of people? How odd and how frightening! Then what was she?
It was with some distress that she answered, "I don't know what race I am. I never have. I just know that I'm..... different from other people."

Kailen could feel his face turn red and hot.
"Oh, I'm sorry that I brought it up."
He sighed, and his wall of wind protecting the cave broke. He sighed as the cold chill rushed back into the cave. He quickly put his hands out, creating another one, though it exhausted him to use that much power so often, so his breathing became harder.

Her nerves fairly shouted at her to get out of that cave, but Arjani ignored them as best she could. This man's use of magic only gave her faint twinges of pain; nothing worth even the blink of her eye. She watched him work his craft with curiousity and trepidation, her body tense.
When Kailen's face whitened and his breath came in a pant, Arjani became worried and asked, "Are you allright?"

Kailen nodded.
"Yes. I am fine. That just takes a lot of power, and making it twice..."
He looked towards the wall, watching the rain hitting it. Looking like it was going to come into the cave, but then fading into nothingness.
