Name: Shea ( Shh - Ay - Ah ) Kalyani Garrett.
Age: Ninteen and a Half.
Race: Witch.
Appearance: The Twins
Brief history: Arielle Garrett should have never given birth to children, but she defied her doctor’s orders and became pregnant. She nearly died in the attempt, her husband pleading with her that it wasn’t worth it, pleading with the gods to let her live. By the end of the night she had given birth to twins, a boy and a girl. Arielle was bedridden for the rest of her life, but as she stared into her children’s eyes, it was worth it. She named them Ethan and Shea, her dream, her miracle. The two could often be found at their mother’s knee, listening to her stories. Arielle had a great love for reading, and she did her best to pass it on to her children. Ethan often bored quickly, curling up to fall asleep. But Shea would listen closely to tales of hope against the darkest despair.
As they grew older, it was apparent who had inherited which parent's gifts. Both parents hoped their offspring would follow in their footsteps - Their Mother a world-renowned Earth Witch; their Father, a first-class Fire Warlock. Ethan grew stronger with the power of his sword, also supporting the power of the Flame. It was decided on his tenth birthday that he would train to become a powerful Warlock - he would be the one to defend their village from the darkness that surrounded their lives. Shea, on the other hand, was peaceful in nature. While she, too, supported the gift of Magic, her abilities rested in the supportive ability of the Earth.
The twins formed a sort of agreement as they got older. Shea would take care of their mother, and take care of the household, and Ethan would help their father in his shop. He had always been the more friendly and outgoing of the two, and Shea preferred to stay at the house, reading whatever she could get his hands on. Some of the children in the village like to pick on her for the fact, claiming that it would be more productive for her to become a hermit then a Cleric. While Ethan would angrily fight to defend his sister, beating even the biggest boy to a pulp, Shea simply ignored them. Eventually, they grew tired of picking on her and moved on, and Shea was left in peace.
Word of darkness came, and it seemed almost as if a distant nightmare. Their small village went on as always, if people were more wary, trained a bit more, carried weapons around wherever they went, it was simply a precaution, nothing more. On their fourteenth birthday, Shea's mother gifted them with weapons of their own. A bow for Shea, it was nearly bigger than she was, but gorgeous and light. A short sword for Ethan, a gift that he kept on his person since that day as a good luck charm. She asked that her children train with their weapons. Her eyes were deadly serious, and neither of them dare to deny her.
And thus, Shea found herself practicing daily with her bow. One day, a traveling merchant, who had simply been taking in the scenery on his first day entering the village, saw him struggling, and offered to help. Though she protested (she hardly knew the man, and didn’t wish to trouble him), the man insisted. His name was Rowan, and the month he stayed in town (he had some sort of business) was the best month of the young girl's life. On top of having someone to talk to who seemed to understand her, Rowan also showed her how to properly use his precious gift from her mother - as well as from the gods. They trained together each day; room in their home was exchanged for this precious oppertunity. Rowan was an Earth Mage himself, though he couldn't have looked farther from it. He taught her how to control her powers, as well as helping her with the weapon. The day that Rowan left, Shea couldn’t help but feel that there was something missing, something she should have said, and to present day, she still regrets it, though she’s still not sure what words she would have used.
Five years later, though earthquakes shook the ground, bringing down homes and businesses alike, though a large blizzard raged through their small town, killing half of their number, the little village managed to stand. They had not been victim of the god's search for the stones, but the effects from Night World still shook their home. One day... One afternoon, Shea's father asked if she would go into Night World to pick up an order for him. Ethan was away training, but he was sure he could trust his daughter for this task. She agreed, and set out, taking his bow with her for protection, (though it seemed hard to believe that all over the world people were dying when home seemed so peaceful). Her brother loaned her his sword, joking that she could use it to fend off admirers. She said goodbye to her family, assuming he’d see them soon. If only he’d known...
