Driven

[Jaira]

For her first bout of dimension travelling, Jaira thought she had done pretty damn well. However, it still didnt stop the walls from spinning as she lowered herself onto the hay-strawn floor.

Sitting back, she allowed her mind to run through what she had just seen.. and more importantly who she had just seen. The last time she had seen the girl, Tsjata had been a young child the werewolf had helped smuggle out of the dungeons. Along with the boy Damien, she had sealed Jairas fate as a traitor to the Clan. A betrayal she had spent most of the past three years repaying.

Not that this mattered much anymore. After her recent escape plan and slaying of her brother no amount of community service could save her from death now. It was merely the curiousity of the family that still drove her to find the woman known as Kiya. If the Fire Witch existed in a reality completely modelled on their own, then surely she could be found in the NW. And Jaira would find her.

[Cassiel]

Cassiel was in her favorite spot in the loft of the barn, laying in the sunlight streaming in from the one small window, when she felt the hairs on the back of her neck and her back stand on end. Something was not right here. Just as she stood up, a woman appeared seemingly out of thin air and sat down on the ground below her.

After she shifted, Cassiel climbed down the ladder. Cassiel'd never met this woman and wasn't sure that she wanted her to know she was a shifter. She eyed the woman suspicously through her mirrored lenses. "Can I help you with something?"

[Jaira]

Jaira looked to the woman in shock. Partly because of her sudden appearance, and partly because the Shifter before her seemed to have no recollection of her face.
She had, it seemed, changed much in the years since she had helped Cassiel free the children.

Looking down, the werewolf allowed the smallest smirk to grace her face at the womans suspicious gaze, "You dont remember me Cassiel?"

[Cassiel]

"I don't, but aparently you know me. Though now that you are speaking, your voice sounds familiar." Cassiel was perplexed. She very rarely forgot a face. Her very existance had depended on it.

"Are you someone who used to live here, or have I met you on my travels?" Cassiel asked. She didn't want to play games, but she had a feeling this woman wasn't going to just tell her who she was.

[Jaira]

"Travels?", her eyes sparkled with withheld amusement, "No, Cassiel, not many people would call where we met a travelling expedition. The little boy, Damien. How does he fare?", she let the words sink in before raising her gaze to the shifters. "I hear you and your fiancee took him in".

[Cassiel]

Cassiel grew more suspicous. Not many people knew about Damien. She knew that there were people after him, that much was clear after she talked to the child. His situation reminded her of her own past and Cassiel was not going to let him live the life she had to.

She was just about to throw the woman against the wall and demand answers when her words sunk in. "You were there. When we rescued him."

[Jaira]

Jaira`s face lit with a rare genuine smile, "Correct". Strangely urged by the protectiveness that fell across Cassiels face she continued on quickly, "You should know. Although he is an extremely gifted child, you do not need to be worried about people coming for Damien. The girl that now goes by Tsjata. The one that was with him. That is who they are after."

[Cassiel]

Cassiel smiled. "He is incredibly gifted, you are right. And he is doing very well." She was proud of her son. But Jaira said something else that surprised her. "You know where Tsjata is? That must mean you know where Kiya is too."

[Jaira]

Jaira shook her head, "I dont know where either of them are. Ive been gaining slight insights into their life.. but theres so much to it. I dont think Ill ever be able to warn them."

[Cassiel]

"What do you mean, insights into their lives? And how can we help? Can't we just go after the people who are threatening them, that way they wouldn't be in danger anymore." Cassiel coudn't stand the thought of her good friend and her friend's daughter in danger that they couldn't be warned about.

[Jaira]

She laughed bitterly at the prospect of fighting the entire Esteen Family, "Believe me, Tsjata and her mother would find it much easier to take down these people then ourselves. That small child has much undiscovered within her. If you think Damien talented...."

[Cassiel]

"I'd rather help out then sit back and watch someone go after them." Cassiel thought for a moment. "Do you know Tamuril? She might be able to help you. She and Kiya were very close."

[Jaira]

"They were?", Jaira stored the name for future reference, before deciding to dig slightly deeper for some information, "Neither of them ever mentioned owing debts to anyone? Or promises to the Esteen Family?"

[Cassiel]

Cassiel searched back in her memories. "The name doesn't sound familiar at all to me. In fact, this is the first I've heard of it. So they are the ones after Kiya, right?"

[Jaira]

Jaira nodded slowly, not sure how much she could tell the shifter. "Some of. You could say there are two groups, but my Family would be the main threat".
