Tate stood outside the closed barn door, with a look of deep sorrow covering his face. This place flooded him with memories, a lot of places in Night World did that to him. That was how you could tell that a lot of quality times were spent with the people of this town, because everywhere he went, he had a lot of happy memories, though most only made him sad anymore.
He knew for sure the memory that stood out the most from this place. When Cassiel revealed his past to him. When she showed him how his parents were murdered, when she showed him that he was half witch.
Cassiel had helped him so much through all his struggles in life, and yet he hadn't seen her in a really long time. After his journey, he just wasn't out much. He didn't even shave much, as you could tell from the stubble covering his chin.
Taking in a deep breath of the cold night air, Tate reached for the handle of the old barn. With a loud squeek, the door was pulled open, and the smell of hay and must flooded over him. With a sad smile, Tate took a step, but never crossed the threshold of the barn. He carefully leaned over against the doorway, and just looked into the barn and at all of it's contents. Tears slowly swelled in his eyes, as the memories just kept flooding his mind.

Cassiel was laying in the loft of the barn, one of her favorite places in Night World. This was her first home, and the place where a lot of significant memories remained. Good and bad. It was here where she discovered her brother was still alive, changed but alive. And it was in this very spot that she performed the spell that brought back the memory of her youth, and where she'd used the spell to help others find their pasts. Cassiel though then of Tate, whom she hadn't seen in a very long time. In her experiences, when someone was gone for that long, they usually didn't come back.
Cassiel's thoughts were interrupted by that squeeking of the door's hinges. She never oiled them so that no one could sneak up on her through the door. Staying low and in the shadows, Cassiel crept to the edge of the loft and looked toward the door. Outlined by the moon was someone Cassiel never thought she'd see again.
She stood up and lept off the loft. Shifting back to human for, Cassiel walked over to Tate, not saying a word.

Just as the first tear dropped from Tate's eye, and rolled silently down his cheek, he heard a rustling in the hay across the barn. He let out a sigh, great, someone watching him. When he saw something jump down, he lost his breath. He knew that panther. It was Cassiel. He couldn't believe it, after being gone, to come back to this was awesome. Cassiel was a great person, and he was so happy to see her that more tears ran silently down his face.
"Cass..."
Though he knew that she spent a lot of time here, he was very surprised to see her.

Cassiel could never stand the sight of tears, so she gave Tate a tight hug. When she pulled away she grinned at him. "Tate, it is so good to see you. When you left and we hadn't heard from you I thought you were gone for good." Cassiel couldn't bring herself to say what she really meant, but figured Tate would know what she was talking about. "You must have some story, and I'd love to listen if you want to tell it."

Tate smiled, he understood what Cassiel had meant, and it felt so good to know that she cared that much. He was so happy to actually know that people did notice that he had gone, and some people actually did miss him. Since the death of Kione, and the leave of Liliona, he didn't really have anyone here except Cass. He had never really branched out to meet anyone, it was just those three that he was so close to. His eyes, though still kind of watery, never let another tear fall, because he knew that Cassiel didn't like crying. He grinned when she asked what he had done and if he would tell her, of course he would, she was the only person that he had.
"Sure."
He headed across the barn, and looked around, figuring that the most comfortable spot would most likely be in the loft. With a smile, he changed into his wolf form, and in one leap, was up into the loft, and halfway through the leap, he was human again. Landing swiftly, he smiled.
"Come on up here, looks more comfortable."
