She sat hidden in the corner - pen in one hand, paper in the other, her mind straining to grab holds of remnants of her teachings. So far she had only deciphered half the scrolls which sat on the haystack before her; and it didnt seem like she was going to be able to do much more.
If only she`d been the tiniest bit more interested in the written applications of her kind rather then the physical.

He'd been looking for Jaira since they left the magical, admittedly weird, temple. Not that he expected her to have trouble with her scrolls, but to offer his assistance anyway. The first (and most logical in his mind) place he checked was the library. When she wasn't there, he decided on the barn. He popped his head in and almost didn't see her camouflaged in the corner. Raising an eyebrow, he called her. "Jaira? Tell me that's not you."

She looked up a milisecond and turned back to the paper before her, chewing on her pen in thought. "Yeah its me, whats the problem?".

"Well....this is a barn. Not the most studious of places." Kaden noted. "But then again, it is silent...Never mind. How you doing on the scroll thing?"

"Exactly - silent and private - and its not like I need any books", she sighed at the mention of her process, "No matter what I cant get this last part. I didnt really try that hard to listen when my Family taught me".

Finally entering the barn, he walked past all the strewn hay and all the other barn-y goodness. "Well, the whole magic thing is kinda my specialty, so...what's up? What do you need help with?"

She pointed out several symbols on the Scroll before her, "I need to know what they mean. They seem familiar but.... " she trailed off in a shrug.

Taking the scroll from her and looking over the symbols, the wizard thought for a while. "You're right, they do look familiar..." Kaden mused. "I'm positive these four here are the four main phases of the moon....this one is some stone of some kind though..." It was right at the edge of his mind, he KNEW it.

"The lodestone!", Jaira smiled, "Its the lodestone......", substituting the sounds the symbol made in her her written language, her hand scribbled furiously across the page. "Got it", she half laughed.

"Lodestone?" The wizard asked. "The most I know about lodestone is that it's a natural magnet..." He said. "Or are you talking about something else?"

"Ahhh..". There it was. The point where she felt she should still keep at least some of her Familys secrets. "Something else....."
She excitedlty waved the deciphered words before him to distract the wizard, then brought them before herself. Slowly, though, as she read, her smile turned to a frown, "This doesnt make sense". She grazed more of the script, her voice becoming laced with confusion, "This cant be about me. It specifically mentions a shifter."
"To shift at will", she repeated the words quietly once more, "The magic of the Stones power will be unlocked by one to shift at will..... ". She gritted her teeth, "Well heres you at least", she showed him the paper, "At dawn of the magicians finding, in the heat over ice..... to them will be shown the vision of the Key".

"Heat over ice?" Kaden asked himself out loud. "Ice, I guess, is self-explanatory but I can't handle heat." He added before reading aloud Jaira's section again. The magic of the stones power will be unlocked by one to shift at will... "Wait a minute." The wizard said suddenly. "This doesn't say that one must be able to shift at will to unlock this power, it says that the power that's to be unlocked IS to shift at will."

She could of kissed him. Instead she read the section over again, a huge smile on her face, "You know what, Torrik? I think you might just be spot on".
She wrinkled her nose in thought, "So.... when you find whatever you have to find, and somehow create heat over ice... my Stone will be unlocked?". The werewolf sighed, "Still very confusing".

"Ok, this scroll seems to be playing word and misdirection games with us. Let me really look this over..." Kaden muttered, running his finger over the words as if it helped. At dawn of the magician's finding in the heat over ice... He couldn't stifle the gasp that escaped his lips when what he hoped was a terribly wrong realization came to him. "If I'm the magician that they're talking about, then...what if they're not talking about me finding something? It could be talking about something happening TO me, and you having to find me. In the 'heat over ice'...the ice could be referring to me too."

She stiffened involuntarily at the thought of danger being brought upon him. "I have to go back to the Temple and ask, theres too many 'what if`s' here".
