Night Falls

[Kaden]

Feeling the rumbling stop, the wizard breathed a sigh of relief. He hoped the dragon wasn't annoyed at him because with all the enemies he'd fought, he'd never had to face down a dragon. That wasn't a fight he wanted either, especially one that could destroy a castle by itself. Deciding he'd think about that later, he got another message.

She's on the other end of the castle on the floor you're on!

Gotcha. Thanks Syn. Now I need you to find me that damn sorcerer. I need to know where he is because chances are that he knows we're here so he's headed for either me or Cassandra.

Taking a detour from the staircase, Kaden ran as fast as he could toward the far wing of the first floor.

[Fiona]

Fiona understood the urgency but was still annoyed at Cassanda's tone. "Again, you aren't a princess anymore! And I'm doing the best I can! Cassie! You won't believe the sh*t in this room! Girl, there's enough in this room alone to make us all rich!" Fiona said as she gazed around the room in wonder. Seeing the necklace she felt her heart sink.

"Cassie? The necklace is here. Behind some sort of glass that's got a lock on it. I have nothing to break it with. Suggestions?"

[cassandra]

"Fiona? Can't you pick up something in the room and break the glass? You're the only one who can get in or out. That door is too thick for us to break through..."Cassandra's voice trailed off as she saw Sebastian walking up.

"I must say that was quick thinking, using me for a weapon. It was so good, that I can't even be mad at you." The cat said, in a surprisingly nice tone. "Fiona, there's a golden sceptre in that room, use it to smash the glass and get the amulet to her highness." He said as he cast a derisive look at Cassandra. It was good, but there are limits!

[narym]

Narym frowned at the cat.
" Cass, have you wondered just how he knows so much?" she asked, looking suspiciously at him.

[melacham]

Melacham ran out of his quarter's and past the stairwell without even looking at it. When he reached the main area of the floor he was astounded at what he saw. Dead guards, rubble on the floor. Running down the stairs in a rage he headed to the security room, determined to have the head of whoever was responsible for this! As he entered the room and surveyed the damage, he thought to himself, Someone has beaten me to it regarding the heads. I'm going to find that leopard bitch and her ice making partner and destroy them both once and for all!

Focusing his senses on Kaden he closed his eyes for a moment, then gave an evil grin and with a snap of his fingers the evil sorcerer disappeared!

Reappearing behind Kaden he tapped him on the shoulder and in his coldest voice said, "Looking for me?"

[Kaden]

Almost as soon as he started running, he stopped dead. He hadn't felt fear in a while, so he was getting a refresher course right now. Kaden knew though, that the more he let himself be scared, the more his magic flared, which in turn made it easier for him to be beaten. Forcing himself to calm down, he turned around to face the dark wizard.

Forget that last one, Syn. I've found him...Well, he's found me. Tell the cat to tell Cassandra and the others. Then get here now! Kaden quickly sent to the dragon.

"Yes, actually I was. I was wondering how long it'd take you to realize we were here."

[Fiona]

Looking around the room Fiona saw the sceptre that the cat had been talking about. "How does that damn cat know every damn thing?" she wondered to herself. Shrugging her shoulders she picked it up and swung at the glass with all her might. Forgetting that she had recently fed on human blood, all her might was almost too much! The glass shattered and the necklace went flying and struck the far wall. "Oh, no!" she exclaimed. Running over to the necklace she picked it up, relieved to see that it appeared to be in one piece.

"Wow Cassie!! This thing is glowing! All the light in this room is coming from this necklace!" Hearing more chaos outside she realized what her mission was supposed to be. Cloing her eyes and doing her 'blinky thingy' she appeared at Cassandra's side and handed the necklace over to her.

[melacham]

"So....the little morsel in the garden was your idea?" Melacham asked. "Maybe I'll do to Cassandra what I was planning to do to her.....and make you watch!" He snarled as he drew back his hand and drained a large dose of magic from Kaden...then hurled it back at him with all his force!

[Kaden]

Pulled forward a bit at the forcible extraction of magic from his body, he nevertheless didn't try to move out of the way. It was his magic and he knew he could re-absorb it. The force it was shot back at still pushed him back some, though he indeed was able to take it back into his body.

"You're gonna have to do better than that." Kaden boasted with a smirk. He knew provoking Melacham was not smart, but he didn't have a chance at winning this fight by himself. Donner was difficult, near-impossible to be sure. But that sorcerer didn't have the ability to absorb what Kaden threw at him. And without Merlin, he didn't have the raw power to overload him like last time. So his plan was to try and last as long as he could.

[Alledyra]

Somehow, during the chaos, Dyra had lost track of everyone...but at this point she really didn't care. Her gift flowing through her like a black wind, she swept down hallways draining the life out of anyone she randomly came across...she'd lost track of where she was in the castle long ago.

Her entire body radiated a darkness that seemed to pull at the light from whichever room or hallway she happened to find herself in...turning into a hallway, she saw two people at the other end, and seemed to almost glide towards them, her laugh a cold hollow sound that raised the hair on the backs of their necks. Before reaching them, one broke and ran, and her blackened eyes tracked his path, before turning back to the other. He was holding a short sword, but if he had a radio, she didn't see it, and he didn't seem to use it.

Slashing at her, she felt the blade bite down on the bone in her shoulder, and smiled as her hand reached out and drained the life and energy out of him anyways. As he fell, the sword clattered to the floor, and her gift continued healing the damage the sword had done. She was already on the path of the one who'd fled, her smile still eerily in place...

[cassandra]

Turning to Narym Cassandra replied, "He knows so much because he is getting his information straight from the gods....he's a gift to me from them, although at times I questioned their taste, he has proven to be helpful...amongst other things!" Cassandra grimly said. Just then Fiona appeared wtih the most beauiful amulet Cassandra had ever seen. It looked as if it could have been designed by an angel@ A beautiful band, made of some precious metal, with both the sun and the moon on it, both glowing with their own light as if lit from within. Cassandra's breathe caught in her throat as she reached out a trembling hand for it. From the moment Fiona handed it over to her, a visibile change took place over Cassandra....and the necklace! The necklace began to glow so brilliantly that it hurt to look at it, so Cassandra put it around her neck and tucked it underneath her black shirt, making it more difficult to see.

The changes to Cassandra were more subtle, but definitely there. She appeared to stand taller, straighter. There was no longer any doubt in her face, nor any alarm. She might almost have been on a sightseeing tour with her friends, as serene as her face appeared now. But...but...looking into her eyes you saw no trace of the familiar warmth that was usually there, in its place was an arrogance...the type seen in the faces of those who felt themselves invincible..and for good reason...from the moment Cassandra put the amuloet on, she became invincible!

Turning to Narym and Fiona she said, "Let's go find Cassiel and get her the hell out of the king's chambers!"

" Can we get Lily first?" Narym instinctively knew that now was not the time to tell Cass but to ask. " I left her at the top of the stairs with two guards to come to you."
She hurried after Cass, sharing a worried look with Fiona. " And um, I lost track of Dyra. She came into the castle with us, but I don't know where she went. I promised I'd watch her."
She called silently to Fallow. 'Any idea where Dyra is ?'
'I've not seen her,' he replied, 'but I do have a message from Syn.'

[Kratos Cage]

Kratos had gotten separated from the rest, he was in a battle with 3 guards. The first guard swung an axe at Kratos, he ducked and with a swift upward motion stabbed the guard in the throat. The second guard, pulled a gun and tried to shoot, but Kratos shifted to Tiger form and pounced on the guard. Biting straight for his neck, Kratos leaped off and tackled the last guard. With one motion, Kratos slashed off the guards arm and bit down deep on his throat.

He shifted back to human form and started to run down a hall and by shear luck ran into Kaden. "Kaden, I am here. What can we do?"

Before Kaden could speak a word, Melacham cast a curse on Kratos. He dropped to the floor, losing all his energy.

[Eli]

Eli, who was momentarily entranced, awoke to find all hell breaking loose. He shifted to human form and pulled out his staff, beating down on anyone and anything that crossed his path. This was where he was best, at destruction and mayhem. And now, he was planning on accomplishing a lot of both.

[merlin]

Merlin had been right behind Kaden so when Melacham appeared behind Kaden, he appeared in front of Merlin. Merlin had been slow getting there so he didn't know it was Kaden's own magic that Melacham hit him with, he just saw him stumble back. Thinking the situation was disperate Merlin quickly moved his hands in the air, tracing the outline of a sword. When he stopped moving his hands, there was a perfect sword hanging in the air in front of him, made of ice, but deadly sharp. Holding the sword in both hands Merlin yelled to Melacham "Yo stupid head weeee!" and gave a mighty slice with the sword, right at Melacham's throat. As the sword connected with the dark wizard Merlin felt it slicing through nolthing but air. There was just a shadow outline of where Melacham had stood.

"Kaden? What the f*ck was that and where did he go?" Merlin asked.
