Night Falls

[narym]

Narym opened her mouth to speak and then found she didn't have the strength to argue.
" Well if you've got your strength back, you can have this," she handed her back her crossbow. " It's heavy she grumbled." The relief she felt that Lily was ok would have to wait til later to be enjoyed. They started to run back the way they had come to the roof. The blasted cat was running ahead of them and Narym could swear the thing was looking smug!
" Kadens dragon is waiting up there for us," she panted as she climbed up the narrow wooden stairs to the roof hatch. " His name's Syn and he's going to fly us down into the courtyard."
' Fallow,' she sent. ' She's ok!'
The dragon was still flying overhead, but now he was having to dodge arrows and bolts.
' I am gratified,' he replied. ' Now I can concentrate on the job at hand!'
He swooped just over their heads and Narym whooped in joy.
' Watch your hide old man!' she teased and scrambled onto Syns back.

Lily smiled at Narym grateful that she didn't have to argue and took her crossbow, slinging it over her shoulder she broke into a run next to Narym. "Whats the plan of action after the dragon ride?" she asked.

Naarym hunched behind Lily and shouted in her ear. The chaos all around was deafening.
" We find Dyra and Fiona and make sure Cassiel is ok. Then we make our way up to the second floor and regroup with Cass and that mangey mog!"
Fallow was roaring overhead, providing a spectacular display of aerobatics. He spat ice bolts continuously at the castle. "He's hoping that Melacham will come outside so that he can freeze him!" she shouted to Lily. As they landed she continued, " He was very angry at Melachams trick with your drink!"
She slide down Syns side and helped Lily to her feet. She saluted to the dragon and thanked him. The dragon took to the air once more.

Chaos reigned. Fallow was creating havoc with the fabric of the castle and freezing many soldiers into the bargain. Keeping their heads down, they ran towards some familiar faces.
" Hey Fiona! Dyra!" She looked up. " Magnificent isn't he?" she shouted proudly.

[Kaden]

Now! The wizard heard Syn's voice in his head. Realizing the urgency of the situation, he just tapped Merlin, afraid to make any noise whatsoever just yet. Nodding up toward the entrance, he pushed the door up slightly and didn't even look this time. Going based on the mental picture he'd taken last time and figuring Merlin would clean up whoever he missed, Kaden let loose his ice along the floor. It crept along rapidly, slithering like a flat-to-the-ground snake, transparently in every direction. It even went up the walls, stopping just before the cameras. When all the ice was set up, he concentrated just a tiny bit harder; and each sheet of ice that stopped near a guard materialized into a large spike jutting up from the ground. The spikes were aimed to destroy the waist radios as well as impale. The ice on the wall covered and screwed up the cameras.

Kaden knew he'd missed some, and was grateful when he saw Merlin do his own thing to take the remainder of the guards out. "Good work, now here we go! Second wave up!" He shouted, throwing the entrance open and jumping up through it.

[Kratos Cage]

Kratos hearing the command of Kaden, turned to the second wave. "It is our time! Make sure to look out for eachother. Be as quickly as we can be and leave none alive!"

[Eli]

Eli flew and found Cassiel, alone. Why wasn't anybody drawn here when she obviously "needed" help. Eli decided to watch and wait, same as he did with Lily.

[Cassiel]

As Cecil brought Cassiel up to his room, she was planning out her next moves in her head. He had made it obvious that she had stirred something inside of him and was trying to figure out his next move before she could figure out her own.

She was awestruck by his room, she'd never seen so many riches in one place. And the chair that he set her on felt like what she had always imagined the fluffy white clouds to feel like. Cassiel sighed and closed her eyes a moment. When she opened them, she smiled at him. Thank you so much, you've done more than enough already. I think maybe I was overreacting, it already feels a thousand times better."

Cassiel noticed that he was still standing close to her. Time for phase two. She stood up and started walking toward him. When she stepped on her "bad" ankle, she fell forward into his arms.

[Cecil]

Catching her again quickly, he sighed softly. "This won't do at all." Cecil said, looking down, making sure he caught another glimpse of her eyes. "You still shouldn't be walking. Sit, I'll bring anything you may need." He added, starting to walk her back to the chair, before suddenly hearing the commotion from outside. Something was happening. "What the - What in the world is going on out there?" He asked out loud, making his way to the door.

[Cassiel]

When Cassiel felt the castle shake, she knew she didn't have much time. They were already in which meant something either went wrong or Lily was really, really good. She had to keep the king from going out the door, so she did the first thing she could think of. Cassiel took a deep breath and screamed.

[Cecil]

Snapped out of his alternate curiousity by the sudden scream, Cecil's head snapped around. There was genuine concern in his eyes. Rushing back over to her, he stood over her, somewhat protectively. "What's wrong? Is your ankle hurting without you putting pressure on it?"

[Cassiel]

Cassiel felt a sudden twinge of guilt when she saw that the king looked genuinely worried. What if Melacham had him under some sort of spell? She shook that thought out of her head for the moment. When she rendezvoused with Cassandra she would just have to tell her and let her handle it.

Shaking her head Cassiel cried, "No, I'm just so afraid the castle is going to fall and you are going to leave me in here to die alone."

[Cecil]

"It sounds very dangerous out there and I just wouldn't want you getting hurt." He said to her, which indeed was partly the truth. He also didn't want any interruptions in here with her. "This castle could never fall. It's impenetrable. Don't worry yourself too much."

[Cassiel]

Damn this better work, Cassiel thought. She'd trained herself never to become a woman like this. Helpless just was not in her vocabulary, at least not when she was thinking about herself.

"Will you come sit next to me?" Cassiel asked, her eyes still wide with fear. She jumped as the castle shook again and bit her lip to keep from crying out. "Please?"

[Cecil]

This went against his better judgment and he knew it. The problem was, in his life, he could never walk away from one of her kind. It was his weakness and he regretfully sighed at it. "Sure." Cecil said, deciding that he'd leave it up to his guards and Melacham to handle whatever was happening outside his door. "I'll sit with you as long as you need me to."

[Alledyra]

Drawn between Narym's call and Kratos' quick orders, Dyra first grinned at the dragon, and threw a quick wave to Narym and Lily. Releasing a breath she hadn't been aware she was holding, she raked her eyes over Lily, glad to see her safe again, and turned worried thoughts to Cassiel...shouldn't they have heard back from Eli by now? And where had Cassandra gotten off too?

Shaking the thoughts away, she again focused on her gift, tensing as the chaos around her sped up. Her eyes again flickered, staying a frightening shade of black for a moment, before she shook it away. Afraid to say anything, she fought to keep her gift in control for just a few more moments...
