Practice

[Kaden]

Kaden entered the barn and dropped to a sitting position on the ground with a sigh. He was looking for this place again for a long time, finally finding it.

After a short rest, he stood back up and recomposed himself. "Alright....can't practice fire magic in here for obvious reasons. So, on to ice then." He said to himself.

Pointing his arms out in front of him, he started to concentrate. A spear of ice started to form in the air in front of his arms. The spear grew and grew, the longer he concentrated.

[Kiya]

Kiya, hearing noises in the barn, decided to check it out. Halting at the doorway she silently watched Kaden work his magic, admiring his skills with ice. Although she had been lucky enough to be talented in the fire arts, her heart still longed to work with this impressive element.

[Kaden]

The spear grew until it was almost too big for the barn. Opening his eyes, he sighed, and made the spear disappear in a flash of bright blue light. "This barn is too confined...I need to go outside to do this." Kaden said, turning around and seeing Kiya at the door.

"Oh...uh...Hi." He said to her, visibly surprised at seeing her. "How long have you been there?"

[Kiya]

Kiya snapped out of her reverie, pulling her eyes up to Kadens, "not long...." unable to contain her awe at his magic she rushed on, "is it hard? to control the ice element, i mean..."

[Kaden]

The beginnings of a smile could be seen starting to work its way onto Kaden's face. "Well, it used to be. Was damn near impossible when I first started out." He replied.

He then pointed his hand straight out, with his palm facing the ceiling. A faint glimpse of a blue glow shined for a split second, then a small, perfectly spherical ball of ice appeared in his hand. "Why, though?" He then asked her, calmly tossing her the ice ball. "I'm sure you have a specialty."

[Kiya]

"I get bored easily" Kiya caught the ice ball, the faint lines of smile now forming on her face also. "I can work fire.... but id love to learn more"

[Kaden]

Kaden smirked and snapped his fingers, causing the ball to disappear as quickly as it was formed. "Fire? That's funny....I could never seem to control fire. Every time I tried, it seemed to have a mind of its own. I mostly just caused a lot of property damage whenever I tried." He remarked. Then a thought came to him.

Snapping his fingers again, a necklace of ice appeared around Kiya's neck. "Tell you what...You help me learn how to control fire and I'll show you most of what I know about ice."

[Kiya]

Kiyas hand flew to the necklace in wonder. Feeling the cool set into her bones she waved her hand over her chest evapourating the ice. "Its a deal" she smiled, extending her still warm hand.

[Kaden]

He walked toward her and shook her hand, noticing its heat. He grinned. "So....When do you wanna start? Now? 'Cause I'm ready whenever you are."

[Kiya]

"Im ready" Kiya tilted her head in query, "what first fire or ice?"

[Kaden]

He shrugged. "I guess I'll go first." He said. "What's the most advanced ice spell that you DO know?"

[Kiya]

Kiya looked a little embressed, but quickly masked her facial expression. "I... ahh. I dont know anything about ice"

[Kaden]

"Alright." He replied simply. "We'll start from the beginning then. But before I start, I have a question: With fire, do you have to be in a certain state of mind to control it?"

[Kiya]

Kiya looked thoughtful, "nowadays - it just happens. But when I first started I had to concentrate.." she thought back to her tutors words, "fire is a worthy servant, but a harsh master. u must control it with equal strength"

[Kaden]

Kaden nodded. "Well, that's the thing. You see, I asked because controlling ice requires no force. Your body must be relaxed, free of any kind of tension you may have." He told her. "You could try freezing existing water if you want, before creating ice from thin air."
