"i like that idea" Kiya replied. Attempting to 'relax' she only managed to make it worse, every problem that had been surrounding her over the past month was brought to the surface bombarding her.

"Okay." He said simply, going behind some bales of hay and dragging out an empty wooden trough. Uttering a spell, Kaden began to fill the trough with water. When it was sufficiently full, he turned back to Kiya.
"You okay?" He asked. "Tell me whenever you feel ready. And don't worry, it's supposed to be kind of difficult the first time." He continued, with a reassuring smile.

"Alright." He said. "Put your arms out toward the water. Now, there's no particular spell for freezing pre-existing water, so just relax. Keep your body flexible and imagine cool ice. Think of the coldest thing you can think of, and the water will reflect your imagination."

Kiya nodded, silently thanking Tam for the visualisation lessons earlier in the month. Eyes closed she brought to mind a scene of ice. Picturing it swirling around her she worked on keeping her breathing normal.

Involuntarily, Kaden started holding his breath, eyes glancing back and forth from the slowly freezing water to Kiya. "It's freezing, Kiya." He said softly. "Keep going...You're almost done."

Kiya felt the thrill of the element, as if the ice itself were climbing her spine 'i`m actually doing it?. Her heart leapt at the idea, but she continued to keep focused on her breathing and visualising.

Gingerly, Kaden pressed the palm of his hand onto the water. It was completely frozen. He smiled. "Okay. You can put your arms down now. You did it."

"I did?" Kiyas voice trembled in shock. "Oh...... I DID!" her face lit up. Moving over to the water she had turned to ice her grin broardened all the more, "thats amazing"

"Yeah." He replied. "Once you can freeze water, you prove to yourself that you can control your emotions enough to utilize ice. Believe it or not, there are some extremely powerful wizards that are simply unable to use ice."

Kiya had to smile at the mention of controlling emotions. Something she had been told often she could not do. "I must admit I didnt think ice and fire could work together" she said, "Fires stopped me from reaching into the other branches all my life. I gotta wonder why ice actually worked"

Kiya shrugged, a little embaressed "I`m ok... but fires pretty limiting. I infused my powers with a certain training I did when I was younger" her hand went to the dagger at her leg. "Until recently I tried to hide my past... I realised its not worth it anymore"
